Money apps are where a bad choice costs the most. A few checks separate a solid wallet from something you shouldn't put a cent through.

What to verify
Who publishes it, and are they a real, findable company? Does the app explain clearly how your money and data are handled? For apps distributed outside a store — common for regional financial services — did the install link come from the company's own official channel?
For services that hand out their own app rather than listing it in a store, always start from the operator's official link. That's the single most effective way to avoid a lookalike.
Red flags
Pressure to install "right now", copies hosted on unrelated download sites, and requests for permissions a payments app has no reason to want. Trustworthy money apps are boring about security — that's the point.
